Deferred Comp Match

I suggest you consider make cuts that will eliminate Special Deferred Compensation programs in both Police and Fire. In the Fire Department, the City contributes 3% of the top step base salary of all fire fighters to the City’s deferred compensation program. The makes this contribution of 3% regardless of whether or not an employee makes a voluntary contribution to the deferred compensation program. In the Police Department there is a similar provision, except that the City's 3% contribution to Deferred Comp must be matched by the employee. This is a huge cost to the City negotiated at a time when the City had excess money. It is a shame to anyone lose their job when this kind of benefit that is non-existent anywhere else in the City continues.
