Rather than cutting Environmental Learning Center programs, suggest you make all of them have at least some charge to attendees (it is wonderful to have them free, but would rather have them at $2-10/visit than not at all). Look for concerned community members with skills in marketing to help better promote these events. They would have value to the many members of the community but I feel folks are just unaware of the many opportunities. Market them outside the city as eco-tourism activities to help build interest and therefore revenue. I've taken visiting friends to ELC bird walks and low tide walks, and they've requested we do these again upon return visits.
