either require SHARE to be more transparent with its financial books and use an outside agency to provide oversight, or move the emergency shelter funding to another organization that is better able to handle its responsibilities. Though there is a definite need for homeless shelters, there are long standing problems with the current system.
The city also needs to require a much more open and public process when setting up a new publicly funded emergency shelter in a neighborhood.
Prior to today, there was another idea that had been posted with over 100 comments from a diverse group of voices and opinions, and with far more facts that I can possibly recreate here. I HOPE this idea will remain this time, and that some of the previous posters will recreate their comments again. I do not want to see a supporter of SHARE hack into ideascale and shut down public discussion again.
