Allow online/credit card payment for library fines

Allow library fines to be paid online or at check-out with credit cards. This will increase cash flow, rather than waiting months to collect.

Closing the SP Library is a very bad idea

I suggest you...keep the south park library open and even extend the hours..

We fought for just about a 100 years for this library - we intend to keep it - Given the our other issues and neighborhood economic conditions this is about the worst idea I've heard.

Librarians are crucial to the public.

I suggest you librarians are too vital a resource to cut. People need reference help more than ever because of drastic cuts, lost jobs, and the other disasters of an unequal system. Without a librarian, all you've got is a warehouse not a library. Cut some salaries at the top of city administration--that's where the fat is located.

Allow us to donate current books to the much-depleted collection.

Right now if there is a long waiting list for a popular book or titles missing from the collection by a poplular author, the library can't accept my nearly new copy that I want to donate. There are some good reasons for this, but many of those issues are an easy fix. Allow us to help

Keep librarians in libraries!

Keep librarians in libraries! We voted for the Libraries For All bond measure because we wanted to promote literacy, community, social justice and providing information and materials to all, regardless of socioeconomic class. Taking librarians, professionals and experts on all of these issues, is NOT what Seattle voted for. We did not vote for millions of dollars for warehouses of DVDs or ebooks or anything physical. ...more »

Keep libraries open. Expand Hours.

I suggest you have more libraries open before 11 or 1 pm as is now the case. Many people find that they are most productive during morning hours and that can include library research, computer usage and time for babies and toddlers 1-3 year old with their caregivers. Also, as you make improvements to libraries cultivate awareness of the Friends of Libraries and other fund raising opportunities..

Give teens an internship with the libraries

Allow Seattle Public Library to have an internship program for teens. A great way to have some staffing and for teens to gain valuable experience at the library, serving customers, learning about resources. A win-win since budgets are tight and teens want experience to apply for jobs or advanced education.

Cut administrative salaries to keep our librarians in our communities.

Cut administrative salaries to keep our librarians in our communities. Administrative salaries could be cut throughout the library and city to pay for those professionals that actually serve the community. Stop paying for services by cutting those who serve the most!
