Lower the starting salary of firefighters.

Currently, the starting salary for Seattle firefighters is $59,196 per year (www.seattle.gov/fire/). The nation's average salary for firefighters is $41,060 (www1.salary.com/Fire-Fighter-salary.html). The city of Seattle should lower the initial starting salary, though not by much, until our economy is again stable.

Consider park maintenance a part of public safety

Keeping parks clean and safe is key to neighborhood safety. As city resources plummet there will be decisions as to whether a dollar spent on public safety is as important as a dollar spent on parks. Well maintained parks gets to the root of the problem by keeping women and children in those spaces.

Schools, not bike lanes!

STOP the $13 million bike lane project. If you truly have $13 million available in the budget, find a top notch administrator for the seattle school district and give them a budget to improve the districts teaching staff and security.
