Belltown Police Sweeping away Street Criminals

Close 1st and 2nd street at 1:30am and sweep through each street with horse mounted police and clear the streets. Arrest any drunks and require everybody to go home or get arrested. Same policy as New Orleans on Bourborn St.

Keep Crime Prevention Officers

These officers are invaluable to businesses, helping to make buildings more secure, doing personal safety classes and more. They are a needed part of the Police Dept.

Lower the starting salary of firefighters.

Currently, the starting salary for Seattle firefighters is $59,196 per year (www.seattle.gov/fire/). The nation's average salary for firefighters is $41,060 (www1.salary.com/Fire-Fighter-salary.html). The city of Seattle should lower the initial starting salary, though not by much, until our economy is again stable.

One-time $30 assessment to stencil house numbers.

New fire code requires all houses now have visible addresses anyway. Standardization promotes safety. Direct your dollars to the City (not Home Depot) and save a Park!

Reduce the police force by 50%, like other major cities

Other major cities are reducing their police forces. We have the lowest crime rate in history. Chronic criminal activity like drug dealing and burglary are better treated through social services. Requiring higher educational requirement for officers would also mean fewer officer are needed. And officer should never be allowed to work overtime except for the city.

More red light cameras

I suggest you implement red light cameras at most red lights in the city. This would raise millions in needed revenue and discourage dangerous lawbreaking.

But please, find a more local contractor that is not based in Arizona.
