Campaign: Libraries

Allow us to donate current books to the much-depleted collection.

Right now if there is a long waiting list for a popular book or titles missing from the collection by a poplular author, the library can't accept my nearly new copy that I want to donate. There are some good reasons for this, but many of those issues are an easy fix. Allow us to help

Renegotiate wages with city workers

Demand that all city-employed workers receive salary increases at a rate tied to the consumer price index. King County recently had some success with this strategy. When prices are declining (as they are right now), wages should drop as well.

Combine .gov Web sites, to reduce waste, and increase efficiency!

Combine .GOV Web sites, to reduce waste, and increase efficiency! I don't know how many times I tried to find information about something -- maybe just about a Park! or a License! or Permit! -- but detailed information was spread all over the place, on multiple Web sites, and in multiple locations. Some Web designers today try to keep a page looking "clean" by removing all but some basic info, and then make us click ...more »

Cut from future acquisition programs

Decrease budgets for future acquisitions, so we can maintain current program delivery. We cannot afford to start up an array of programs; we should be focusing on the programs affecting us today. For example, cut the Golf Capital Reserve budget and the Planning, Acquisition & Development program (both in the Parks & Rec Department).

I am a family law attorney and have volunteered for the past ten years at the Greenwood Family Law Clinic located at this center. I have helped hundreds of people who would not have otherwise had access to the legal system. Without this help, many would go into court (or not have responded at all to legal actions), which would resulted in them ...more »

Regarding the Proposed Budget Cut to SCANTV

The vote soon to come up regarding the City of Seattle’s budget includes a plan by the Mayor to cut the funding for the public access station – SCANTV. The cut proposed is draconian – from $650000 to $100000. This would effectively eviscerate the services that SCANTV provides to the city. What seems to have been conveniently left out of the equation is the fact that cable companies have a legal responsibility to provide ...more »

Upgrade IdeaScale

This public input venue off the web is a great idea. Upgrade it to prevent repeated inputs by the same person, then use it more.

Money saving ideas will undoubtedly pay for the upgrade.

We Can Close Seattle's Budget

We have been meeting with Washington EDA's regarding financing of large projects and recently we have been working with the Colorado State Treasury Office & North Carolina's Financing Authority. California just announced a Sale-Lease Back of CA State office buildings ($1.3 Billion in assets). We can help Seattle to structure a similar type of equity to cash funding program (where in Seattle will not actually have to ...more »
